Maternity photo session information, tips and ideas
Best shot in the evening, just prior to sunset, Maternity sessions are a lot of fun.
If we have not yet decided on a location, please think about your favourite places and tell me what you want when you answer my questionnaire. St Clair, Brighton, The lake Waihola wetlands walk at Titri (Henley), the old bridge at Henley, The Botanical Gardens, Ross Creek reservoir are all favourites, but you may want an urban backdrop (maybe utilising some of Dunedin epic murals), the grounds of the Church you were married in, or even your own backyard.
I travel within 40kms of Taieri Mouth free of charge (basically Balclutha to Otago Peninsula), please contact me to discuss if you wish me to travel beyond this as there will be extra charges.
Next we need to think about your outfit, this really depends on your personality and style. I have a number of classical long gowns which you may wish to borrow which you can see below on this page or on this Pinterest board, or you may choose to wear your own outfit, here is a link to a Pinterest board which is helpful. Your session is one hour long, so if you want a change of outfit please factor this in to your idea of where to have your session (as you will need somewhere to change quickly).
You may be including your Partner ? Husband and / or Children in the shoot, if this is the case please ensure that their outfits
co-ordinate with yours, but do not match, ensure their outfits are representative of their personalities, but do not have large logos as these date quickly.
Please bring a warm coat, flat shoes a hairbrush and make up if you are wearing it. A towel and an extra blanket in the car are handy in case it is very cold or you get your feet wet.
I understand that you may feel shy or uncomfortable, I understand. I hate having my photo taken! However, I have experience and techniques to pose you and help you to feel comfortable. I will tell you where to look, how to pose. It will be ok.
